with #brexit comes a United Ireland for the first time in 500 years.
the one shining good hope out of the brexit mess.

Awaiting #Brexit Countdown Clock to Brexit

1/31/2020

Picture
watching the countdown to Brexit and the beginning of the end of the World War II (and certainly post 1991) liberal political order.

from here on in it will be something different - can it be put back together once the Boomers die out?  IDK.  but all it took was for the generation who made the political alliances to die out for the entire system to turn to quicksand.

will europe break up
more wars in more places
civil wars in places that havent know it
wars of conquest once thought impossible
nationalism
racism

will it be the 19th century again?  the 17th?

Will anyone try to tame capitalism before it breaks more societies?   IDK

click here for it

Added Materials 1/28

HIS 102

Added pdfs for Age of Revolutions, Industrial Revolution, Imperialism.

Because of the length of some lectures, I have designated two pdf powerpoints (Americas and Africa) as background HIS 101 material.  They are useful in knowing what will happen happen in "Trauma of the New World" lecture but they are HIS 101 - Ancient World Lectures and so would be redundant here.

HIS 102 students can find their lectures notes HERE

January 2020, Back to School

1/21/2020

Welcome  back everyone to Spring Semester at Camden County College.

Going to be a big semester.
New Video lectures, New Audio Podcasts, Mayhaps an Interview Series
Academic Articles, Conference Presentations, and maybe a book(?!)

I have been using my schools digital content management systems for the last few years and have let my personal sites suffer.  But we're back.  and so this site is going to slowly fill out over the next few weeks.  And then once we're up to speed, we'll start adding old materials and creating new stuff.

Good Luck
Be Safe
Have a good semester!

Christopher Gennari, Ph.D is a Full Professor of History at Camden County College.

He received his doctorate in History from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2010.

His Dissertation is titled "Invasion, Insurgency and Intervention: Sweden's Wars in Poland, Prussia and Denmark 1654-1658."  And was the first english language monograph on the topic of Charles X and Sweden's military actions from 1654-1660.

The dissertation analyses Sweden's wars during the Second Northern War in which it won the initial war, fought a religiously inspired insurgency against their occupation, and then had to cope with the intervention of other states.

He has published articles on the use of technology in archival research, the Construction of the Suffolk County Vietnam Veterans Memorial and several book reviews for academic journals.

He has presented papers at the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study Conferences on Swedish Counterinsurgency during the Second Northern War and on Swedish “Soft Power” during the reign of Charles X Gustav.

He has also presented papers on Soft Power in Game of Thrones at the MAPACA conference, and given a guest lecture on Sweden’s invasion of Poland in 1655 at NYMAS.

Recently he participated in a NEH Grant with the Community College of Philadelphia and the East-West Center – to bring more Asian Studies to Community Colleges.
