Began rereading ‘A Sun Also Rises’ perhaps my favorite Hemingway novel. I have read it once or twice in the past - maybe once a decade. As Hemingway’s first novel it really is the gateway drug into the 1920s tragedy novels: Sun, Farewell to Arms, and For Whom the Bell Tolls. I am five chapters in and there’s plenty of important history points that I would not have picked up before. Jake doesn’t want to leave Paris. And he is sad, anyway. Brett is sad, darling, very-very-sad not being with Jake. There is a cool little art-design website with a bunch of Sun Also Rises inspired art. I found a picture of the version that I am reading. Its a good old worn copy from my mother-in-law.
