The Penn Museum is hosting an exhibit on artifacts of the old Silk Road. In my World Civ classes I spend a lot of time discussing the economics, the politics and the culture of the Silk Road.
So I'm going to give my students extra credit if they go and experience the exhibit. My honors students really liked the project of going to the museums last year. They may not have liked the presentation but several students went to the Penn Museum and were blown away - which was the point. You can see a NY Times piece on the exhibit here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/21/arts/design/21silk.html?_r=1&hp Burning the wedding DVDs for Rich, this way he can have a few DVDs for his wife's family.
This weekend I've been working on updating the Camden County College wikipedia page. Tomorrow I will be working on a paper to present at the Advancement of Scandinavian Studies Conference. It will be on Swedish counterinsurgency in Poland during the 1650s. |
