Awaiting #Brexit Countdown Clock to Brexit

1/31/2020

Picture
watching the countdown to Brexit and the beginning of the end of the World War II (and certainly post 1991) liberal political order.

from here on in it will be something different - can it be put back together once the Boomers die out?  IDK.  but all it took was for the generation who made the political alliances to die out for the entire system to turn to quicksand.

will europe break up
more wars in more places
civil wars in places that havent know it
wars of conquest once thought impossible
nationalism
racism

will it be the 19th century again?  the 17th?

Will anyone try to tame capitalism before it breaks more societies?   IDK

Added Materials 1/28

1/28/2020

HIS 102

Added pdfs for Age of Revolutions, Industrial Revolution, Imperialism.

Because of the length of some lectures, I have designated two pdf powerpoints (Americas and Africa) as background HIS 101 material.  They are useful in knowing what will happen happen in "Trauma of the New World" lecture but they are HIS 101 - Ancient World Lectures and so would be redundant here.

HIS 102 students can find their lectures notes HERE

Next France and Paris.

New Podcast GREAT BIG HISTORY PODCAST

9/18/2017

soon to be on apple itunes and google play.

Great BIG History Podcast will take us on the journey from 10,000 BCE to last week.  We will start with the basic HIS 101, HIS 102 type intro college course.  laying out big events, important characters, interesting trends.

After that, we will start our deep dive series.   "8 Kings and a Queen" - a history of Sweden and Scandinavia from 1520-1721.

and "History behind the News" - where we take big news events such as the rise of ISIS and discuss it in a historical context.

and finally, out military history section will talk about the battles, wars, weapons, treaties and philosophies which have defined fighting in the world (and in historical fiction as well - look out Game of Thrones we're looking at how you use dragon airpower and how the Starks use Soft Power keep hold of the North and our hearts).
